Donald Cameron, FRINA, MCMS.

Donald is the Managing Director of Macduff Ship Design Ltd. He started his career in the mid seventies as an apprentice draughtsman at Campbeltown Shipyard, Argyll, Scotland. From here he moved on to work as a naval architect with the Napier Company, Arbroath, before taking up the position as Drawing Office Manager at Herd and Mackenzie Shipyard, Buckie. From Buckie Donald travelled South to take up a vacancy with the James N. Miller & Sons Shipbuilder in Fife where he rose to the position of Technical Director. He remained with this company until the shipyard was closed in the early nineties when he moved North again and formed Macduff Ship Design Ltd. During his long career in the marine industry Donald has been at the forefront of fishing vessel tug and ferry design.


Simon Oakes, MRINA, MCMS.

Simon joined Macduff Ship Design Ltd after graduating with a degree in Naval Architecture from Newcastle University in the early nineties. Joining initially as a naval architect he was appointed director in 1998. During his time with Macduff Ship Design Ltd Simon has specialised in the ship stability side of the business and has worked alongside the United Kingdom Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) as an industry representative on their stability review group.


Alexander Reid

Sandy joined Macduff Ship Design Ltd in 1996. He started his career as an apprentice draughtsman at Robb Caledon Shipyard, Dundee, before going on to become a naval architect with British Shipbuilders. In the late eighties Sandy moved to Arbroath to take up a position as a naval architect with the Napier Company where he remained until joining the team at Macduff. During his many years in the marine industry, Sandy has acquired a vast experience in most types of ship design. Since joining Macduff Sandy has worked alongside Ian to develop our IT systems and help keep Macduff Ship Design Ltd ahead of the field.

Ian Ellis, MRINA.

Ian joined Macduff Ship Design Ltd after finishing a Masters Degree in Naval Architecture at Newcastle University in the early nineties. Ian has been at the forefront of Macduff Ship Design Ltd's drive to enhance new technologies and has built up a wealth of experience in three dimensional surface modelling and CAD draughting.

Alan Gartshore

Alan left school and worked alongside Donald as an apprentice draughtsman at the James N Miller & Son Shipyard in Fife. Joined Macduff Ship Design Ltd as a draughtsman/assistant naval architect when the company was formed in 1993. Returned to Fife to work as a ships plater with the Miller (Methil) Ltd boatyard. Returned to Macduff Ship Design Ltd in the late nineties and has built up a high level of experience operating CAD draughting packages.

Tracey Aitken

Tracey joined the team at Macduff Ship Design Ltd in 1995. She occupies the role of financial controller, dealing with all accountancy and clerical issues.

 

Myles Conlon

Myles has joined Macduff Ship Design Ltd as a trainee draughtsman and CAD / IT specialist, after graduating with a BA Hons Degree 1st, in Fine Art. He brings a new dimension to the company, hightlighting the progressive nature within the business.
